Where the trachea is, in 3D

The trachea is the airway from the neck into the chest. It divides into the left and right bronchi. It belongs to the respiratory system. It begins below the larynx at the cricoid cartilage and is about 10 to 12 cm long. Sixteen to twenty C-shaped rings of cartilage, open at the back, hold it open, and the split usually lies at the level of the fourth or fifth thoracic vertebra.
