Where the aortic valve is, in 3D
The aortic valve is the valve between the left ventricle and the aorta. It is part of the heart and belongs to the cardiovascular system. It is a semilunar valve with three half-moon cusps. Just above the cusps, the left and right coronary arteries branch from pockets in the aortic wall called the aortic sinuses.
Frequently asked questions
Which body system does the aortic valve belong to?
The aortic valve belongs to the cardiovascular system. The cardiovascular system is made up of the heart and the blood vessels: arteries, veins and capillaries.
What else can you see alongside the aortic valve?
The BAHI BODY 3D model of the heart also shows the right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, left ventricle, tricuspid valve, pulmonary valve, mitral valve, aorta, pulmonary trunk, superior vena cava, inferior vena cava, brachiocephalic trunk, brachiocephalic veins, common carotid arteries and subclavian arteries.
Where is the heart?
The heart is a muscular organ in the middle of the chest, slightly to the left, between the lungs.
Where do the coronary arteries begin?
In the aortic sinuses just above the aortic valve.
