The human body, region by region

The body divides broadly into the head and neck, the trunk and the limbs. The diaphragm divides the trunk into the chest above and the abdomen below, which leads down into the pelvis, and the spine supports it from behind. BAHI BODY gathers the organs, bones and joints of 7 regions and shows each region on its 3D body.

Frequently asked questions

What is inside the chest?

The chest lies between the neck and the abdomen, in the space enclosed by the rib cage: twelve pairs of ribs, twelve thoracic vertebrae and the sternum in front. It holds the two lungs, with the heart between them in the middle, slightly to the left, and the trachea, oesophagus and aorta pass through it.

Where are the organs of the abdomen?

The abdomen runs from the diaphragm below the chest down to the pelvis. The liver and gallbladder sit in the upper right and the stomach and spleen in the upper left, the pancreas lies crosswise deep behind the stomach, and the kidneys sit at the back on either side of the spine.

What is the pelvis made of?

The pelvis is the ring of bone where the trunk meets the legs, below the abdomen, formed by the two hip bones, the sacrum and the coccyx. The pelvic cavity inside holds the bladder and rectum, and in women the uterus and ovaries.
