Frequently asked questions

How is this topic separated from oral mucositis?

Papers measuring only oral mucositis belong to the existing topic. This list includes direct dermatitis, lymphedema, saliva, swallowing, taste or muscle measures.

Does the paper count equal the number of separate trials?

No. Skin assessments, interviews and follow up papers from the same trial may appear separately. Studies in evidence reviews can also overlap with this list.

How are saliva and dry mouth recorded?

Some studies measure stimulated and resting salivary flow, while others use dry mouth questionnaires. Cases without quantitative saliva testing are identified in their descriptions.
